Hours: Friday 3:30pm-11pm, Saturday 7am-11pm, Sunday 7am-4pm

Classification: Full-time Regular, Hourly, Non-exempt

Avondale House is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit agency that provides, educational services to children with autism, a day habilitation program for young adults, where clients receive training in daily living skills and pre-vocational activities and three residential homes for adults unable to live in their own home. This position will support the Avondale House Residential Program and will work at one of our Residential Homes.

Job Duties:

  • Implementating target goals and objectives as written on the individual's IEP/IPP.
  • Keeping daily data and records on each child's performance.
  • Providing/supervising daily nutritional, health, and hygiene care for all individuals assisgned.
  • Supervising self-administration of medication program.
  • Daily log book communication as necessary.
  • Participating in monthly house meetings as part of staff development requirements.
  • Attends all inservice training classes as scheduled.
  • Completes house documentation to include but not limited to fire drill reports, cleaning checklists, incident reports, daily progress notes, medication records, and attendance records.
  • Provides supervision of individuals on recreational outings.

Job Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or quivalent.
  • At least 1 year in a residential setting working with individuals with autism or other intellectual disabilities.
  • Ability to take initiative in planning and starting activities/duties.
  • Ability to manage noncompliant and aggressive behaviors according to state policies.
  • Patient, authoritative personality.
  • Current CPR/AED Certification
  • Valid Driver’s License.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to implement CPI, Non-Violent Crisis Intervention.
  • Lifting/Moving up to 50 lbs and lifting moving up to 100 plus lbs with assistance.
  • Ability to stand on your feet for 2-3 hours at a time.
  • Stooping, kneeling, pushing and pulling may be required in this position.
  • Must be capable of physically restraining individuals who are out of Must be able to handle situations that may be volatile or stressful at times.
